As little as 1 mg of intravenous endotoxins can have lethal consequences. The presence of endotoxins in the blood (endotoxemia) typically leads to hypotension, respiratory failure, and reduced oxygen delivery. Strong endotoxemia can lead to sepsis and eventually death.
